Weddings in India are indeed a big, fat, pompous affair and Yash Raj camp’s latest offering ‘Band Bajaa Baaraat’ promises to be nothing less!  Starring debutant actor Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles, this sweet and simple love story, which spins its yarn around ostentatious Delhi weddings, catches the audience by a surprise.

Band Baaja Baaraat‘Band Bajaa Baaraat’ is all about two young wedding planners from Delhi – Shruti (Anushkha) and Bittoo (Ranveer). Shruti is a 20-someththing, strong-minded ambitious and quintessential Delhi girl who perfectly knows what she wants from life. Bittoo, on the other hand, is an aimless, uncouth slacker, who is undecided about everything, more so his life. An inopportune meeting gets them together on a chaotic partnership and while trying to set up their business together, they discover they are truly, deeply, madly in love.

It is interesting to see two conflicting, mismatched characters clubbed together in a flick that does nothing but play on their sparkling chemistry. This film, which parks its plot in ‘opposites attract’ blueprint woos you with its novel presentation. The writing is crisp, the plot thoroughly absorbing, and the sequence mind boggling. The film has its flaws and a fair share of flaccid and drooping moments. However, what really saves this film from going sour is the chemistry between the lead pair.

Debutante Ranveer Singh pulls off a great feat with his role of an uncouth but good-hearted small town slacker. This youngster amazes in his role of an unsophisticated, street-smart guy who doesn’t mind speaking even with his mouth full.  Anushka as a typical Delhi Punjabi girl lives up to her role with super-energy.
Writer and director Maneesh Sharma makes a brilliant debut with “Band Baaja Baaraat”. Habib Faisal wonderfully pens the screenplay. The frolicking lively scores by Salim-Sulaiman hardly fails to strike a note. On the whole, “Band Baaja Baaraat” woos you with its appealing plot, dexterous execution and most importantly, its lively characters.

The supporting stars like Neeraj Sood (as Maqsoodbhai), Manmeet Singh Sawhney (as Rajinder) and Manish Chaudhari (as Mr. Sidhwani) are exceptionally good in their roles. Band Baaja Baaraat bets on its protagonists to pull off a great show and it does deliver the goods to everyone’s surprise. With a crisp screenplay, perfect execution and commendable performance, the film steers to the audience’s heart quite successfully. On a whole, great watch!

Band Baaja Baaraat Pre-release Review
Yash Raj Films (YRF) is back again with vibrant colors, full-on masti, and sumptuous mazaa! After ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ and ‘Badmaash Company’, Anushka Sharma pairs up with debutant Ranveer Singh for her next YRF project ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’. The movie also marks the debut of director Maneesh Sharma, who previously worked with YRF on ‘Fanaa’, ‘Aaja Nachle’, and ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ as an associate director. Produced by Aditya Chopra, the songs of this flick have been composed by the brother duo Salim-Sulaiman, while the lyrics have been written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ is set to hit the theaters on 10th December, 2010.

What happens when a no-nonsense next-door girl meets a happy-go-lucky spoilt brat? As expected, two opposite energies attract to complete the magnet. But ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ brings along a chaotic and frolicsome journey through their attraction. Enters 20-something years old Shruti Kakkau (Anushka Sharma) who is in her final year at Delhi University. To accompany her is Bittoo Sharma (Ranveer Singh), another DU final student. While Shruti is career-focused and all set to achieve her ambitions once she’s out of college, Bittoo, on the other hand, is a spendthrift, living his life to the fullest with his buddies. An unusual and unfortunate meeting takes the two to a hilarious and gleeful journey, as they begin a wedding planning business together. But, their rules are clear “Jisse vyapaar karo, usse kabhi na pyaar karo”, a.k.a “Don’t mix business with pleasure”.

With this starts their exposure to the glitz and glamour of Delhi baaraats and weddings, only to test their friendship in due time. Will the two get attracted to each other whilst uniting several couples through their business? Will the two be able to stand on their set rules and continue their so-called wedding planning business partnership only as business partners, or friends to be precise? With fresh and new faces in hand, the movie promises to be a light-hearted and vivid entertainer. Come, be a part of the romance, fun, and frolic of the lavish Delhi weddings on 10th December, 2010 when ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ releases.
